Inspiralized to add tofu

If you’re a foodie, then you already know that spiralized vegetables are a huge trend. For as little as $20, a new kitchen gadget can ‘spiralize” the firm, solid flesh of vegetables into pasta-like strands.

Fun for kids, right? And what an inspiration for parents who want their kids to eat healthy.

To add protein is as easy as cutting up a package of medium-firm or firm tofu into one-inch cubes. Blot with a paper towel then saute in your favourite vegetable oil. One noodle manufacturer suggests carefully adding the tofu to the pan with one hand while gently shaking the pan with the other. Continue shaking the pan for about 30 seconds to prevent the tofu from sticking. Cook the tofu, turning once, for about five minutes until both sides are browned. Remove from the pan and set aside until ready to add to the cooked vegetable noodles and whatever sauce you might be preparing.

Carrot noodles with Thai peanut sauce sound fresh for spring. I call them foodles with tofu.
