Where to Find

Where to Find Soy in the Grocery Store

Soy food and beverage products are widely available in grocery stores across Canada, including Whole Foods, Metro, No Frills, Loblaws, Valu-Mart, Zehrs and more. Specific products may be found in different aisles:

SOY BEVERAGES

Most of these can be found in the refrigerated section, alongside traditional dairy products. Shelf-stable beverages that come in tetra pak containers can be found in the health food section, cereal aisle or near other shelf-stable beverages in the store. Besides ‘original’, soymilk comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cappuccino and malt flavours.

SOY YOGURTS & CHEESE PRODUCTS

Products including soy whip and soy-based creamers will be found in the refrigerated natural foods section, or with the refrigerated dairy products.

SOY DESSERTS

These come in a variety of delicious flavours! Tofu puddings or frozen soy desserts can be found in the freezers, along with ice cream and other frozen desserts. Other soy desserts may be in the refrigerated section.

TOFU & TEMPEH

You’ll find this in the produce, natural foods or deli section of your store. Shelf-stable varieties of silken tofu can be found in the natural foods or Asian food section.

MISO, EDAMAME & MEAT ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTS

Miso can be found near the produce, as can fresh edamame when in season  (other times, edamame is found in the frozen vegetable section). Products like veggie burgers and ready-to-heat vegetable protein can be found either in the refrigerated deli case or the frozen foods section.

SOY SPREADS, SAUCES & SNACKS

Soy butter can be found in the peanut butter aisle, while specialty soya sauces can be found in the natural foods or salad dressing aisle. Cold-pressed soybean oil can be found with canola oil in the baking aisle.

Soy nutrition bars live with the natural foods, meal replacements, or snack bars of the store, along with roasted edamame, soynuts and soy crisps.

Canned whole soybeans, dried soybeans, and canned vegetarian meat alternatives can be found with the other canned goods.

PROTEIN-BASED CEREALS

Soy-based cereal will be in the cereal section.

SOY-BASED BAKING PRODUCTS

You’ll find soy flours in the baking aisle.
